Coach Juergen talked to his old club FSV Mainz 05 and other reputable clubs in the South-West of Germany to arrange friendly games against their juniors. The talks were very positive and we will have the chance to see how we compete against high class German U14 teams.
Even more exiting for us is that he was able to secure us a spot in a major international U14 tournament in Backnang, in Southern Germany. Backnang is a town near Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Wurtemberg.
The local soccer club Viktoria Backnang is hosting this tournament since 15 years and welcomes this year teams from 8 different countries. Many of the participating teams are juniors from professional clubs from all over Europe.
The hosts are very excited to have a team from the US competing in their tournament. They are doing everything to make the stay there as interesting and above all, as cheap as possible for us.
Unfortunately some of our parents were affected by the economic down turn just like many others here in the Atlanta area. A number of them have lost their job in the course of the last year. That suddenly and unexpectantly brought our goal to bring all our long-term players to Germany in jeopardy. We dediced to try to do everything to make it possible for all our players to come. We have had already some success raising funds but we are still looking for more help.
If you are interested in supporting our cause or you simply want to hear more, please contact us, we would be glad to talk to you.
